This program focuses on preparedness in the event of an influenza pandemic. It gives an overview of the definition of a pandemic as well as how the influenza virus mutates to become a pandemic virus. It also goes over some of the recommended preparedness measures so healthcare staff will be ready to assist wherever possible. Special emphasis is given to CDC s Cough Etiquette or respiratory hygiene program, to healthcare workers getting their regular flu season immunizations, and to the proper use of PPE. This program has been written so that it is appropriate for staff in all departments, although the emphasis is on the clinical caregiver.
Each pack includes competency assessments with an accompanying answer key for the program presenter.
