Illustrate the Temperature of the Initial Rinse, Enzyme Stage and Detergent Wash of the Automated Washer with TempaChek-90 :
When using an automated instrument washer, the temperature of the initial rinse water should not exceed 45C (113F) and should remain significantly below this level. At 45C, blood quickly denatures and becomes highly insolvent. If the washer utilizes an enzyme detergent, it is important that the temperature remain within the optimal range (typically 100F - 125F).
If the washer utilizes non-enzyme detergent, the temperature is also important, with a minimum temperature typically being above 150F. The TempaChek-90 is an irreversible thermometer that measures and records temperatures from 90 - 140F. By monitoring the thermometer during the washer cycle, the proper cold water rinse, enzymatic soak and detergent wash stages can be monitored.
