Sets B-1 and B-2 include six books that give practice in all the decoding skills found in Sets A plus two groups o new skills: three of the books focus on consonant blends and digraphs and three focus on dipthongs, controlled vowels, and silent letters. As in Sets A, only single-syllable words are included.
Sound Out
Each book in the Sound Out series is written in chapter format with stories designed to both appeal to struggling readers and give them practice decoding and reading connected text. Each Sound Out title has 6 short chapters, followed by a list of high-frequency sight words used in that book.
Students with minimal reading skills can read these books from cover to cover. They'll have a successful and enjoyable reading experience, with lots of opportunities to improve their fluency and comprehension.
Sound Out Chapter Books give students massive opportunities to practice decoding one-syllable words. Each set contains six books. Each book is 5” x 7” and has 32 pages with 22 pt. type (Nonfiction is 20 pt. type with some sets being 7" x 9").

The Sound Out chapter books represent a new approach in hi/lo reading, specially designed for very low-performing students. We have created hi/lo chapter books that represent a continuum of phonics decodability.

100% Decodable
- Each chapter book consists solely of one syllable decodable words (some two syllable words in Sets C-1 and C-2 and Nonfiction sets).
- Books also include sight words from the Dolch 220 list.
- Readability levels fall well beneath the standard Grade 1 reading scale and are 100% decodable.
Workbooks
Teacher activity workbooks are available for some sets. Contains story synopses and pre- and post-reading activities. Helps students build vocabulary, practice comprehension, recall and other basic reading competencies. Includes answer key. 8½”x11” softcover, 56 pages.
