SNF/NF facilities are required to inspect (Level I) generators weekly and exercised under load for 30 minutes per month . This is defined in tag K144 of the Life Safety Code (LSC).
K144 is consistently ranked in the Top Ten Cited LSC deficiencies in many states as well as nationwide. 1,2,3
In most cases, the lack of documentation showing weekly inspections and monthly tests is the reason for the deficiency. Fire Marshals are looking for documentation that reflects itemized weekly visual inspections as well as monthly load tests.
Briggs Healthcare has weekly and monthly generator logs to meet these documentation requirements!
