pH values can be traceable to the National Institute Standards and Technology (NIST). Each solution will be supplied with a unique batch number, expiry date, and a table that provides nominal correlation data between pH values and temperature scale. Unopened buffers typically have a shelf life of 12 months. To consider the quality and properties of the buffer solutions, opened buffers are suggested to be used up within 3 6 months and alkaline buffers (pH 10 or higher) 1 month as higher pH changes noticeably through contact with carbon dioxide in the air. Full traceability and uncertainties will be stated on the Certificate of Analysis with each purchase.
